Got a 2130 Cub. The electric PTO clutch works at low to mid motor rpms .... but give it the gas and the PTO slips out. It will try to start about 50% of the time at high motor rpms but usually slips out right away. Every once in a while, when the mower is cold, the clutch may work as advertised but within a half hour or so it'll begin to slip out. Reengaging the switch will enable the clutch again for a few minutes then off it goes till finally it won't engage except at the lower motor rpms.

Had the clutch off and apart because "when in doubt ... clean it." That hasn't helped.
So .... is there just too much tolerance between the plates? ... too low battery voltage? Heat?

If the clutch is new, electric clutches need to be burnished to work properly. This is a procedure of engaging and disengaging the clutch several times at medium rpms enough to heat up the clutch and burnish the plates. You should find the procedure in your owners manual.

If that doesn't solve your problem, you need a set of feeler guages amd a little patience. It sounds like the gap of the clutch plates needs to be set. The procedure again should be in your owners manual along with the recomended gap. There are two slots on the side of the clutch that gap the plates, and usually threee adjustment screws. Look in your manual for the right gap and the gapping procedure. It sure sounds like the clutch isn't gapped.
